What is Smart Mode?
Smart Mode is Cluely’s upgraded reasoning and research mode for Live Insights. Smart Mode will take about 8-20 seconds to respond on average.
When enabled, it activates real-time web search, pulls fresh context from trusted sources, and applies deeper multi-step reasoning so you get precise, up‑to‑date answers during a call or while writing.

Web search for current facts, news, pricing, and market data
Richer context summaries with inline source links
More detailed breakdowns, calculations, and step‑by‑step reasoning
Better disambiguation when a question is broad or complex
When To Use Smart Mode
Recent questions (e.g., “latest funding,” “today’s pricing,” “new policy changes”)
Fact-checking claims or stats during live conversations
Competitive and account research where freshness matters
Complex tasks that benefit from multi-step logic
Slower tasks. Smart Mode is about 3x slower, so use it for longer responses when you have more time.
How to Use Smart Mode
Activate Cluely by clicking Start Cluely from the dashboard or joining from a meeting alert
Click into the chat bar
Click "Smart"
Done! Now Smart mode is on for all future questions and prompts until you click the "Smart" button again to disable Smart Mode.
