Sign-In issues with Cluely

Resolve issues signing in to Cluely

Updated over 5 months ago

default web browser and then hands control back to the desktop app through a secure cluely:// deep‑link. A normal sign‑in looks like this:

  1. In the desktop window click Sign in with Email (or Google).

  2. Your browser opens a page such as https://app.cluely.com/login?…; you enter your email & password (or finish Google OAuth).

  3. You are redirected to https://app.cluely.com/_/session?uuid=…, and the system dialog “Open Cluely?” appears.

  4. Clicking Open Cluely returns you to the desktop app, which finalizes the login.

If the flow stalls at any point, work through the fixes below.

The “Open Cluely?” prompt never appears

  • Confirm that the Cluely desktop app is already running.

  • Look for a blocked‑popup or link‑handler icon in the browser’s address bar; allow app.cluely.com to open links of this type.

  • Reload the success page (Cmd/Ctrl + R). If that fails, copy its URL, paste it into the address bar, and press Enter to trigger the prompt manually.

You click Open Cluely but nothing happens

  • macOS: Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Automation and ensure Cluely is permitted to open itself.

  • Windows: Go to Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Default Apps ▸ Choose defaults by link‑type, search for the CLUELY protocol, and set it to open with Cluely.

  • Quit Cluely, reopen it by hand, then return to the browser and click Open Cluely once more.

You loop back to the login screen after authenticating

  • Clear cookies and cached data for app.cluely.com, then restart the sign‑in flow.

  • For Google sign‑in, temporarily allow third‑party cookies so the hand‑off succeeds.

If these steps don’t resolve the problem, email [email protected] with:

  • Where the flow stops (e.g., “never saw the prompt” or “prompt appears but app won’t open”)

  • A screenshot or exact wording of any error message

  • Your browser name & version

  • Your operating system and hardware specs

Our team will investigate and get you signed in as quickly as possible.
